Openly gay singer Matt Alber's debut solo album, “Hide Nothing” is a touchingly personal, autobiographical and sentimental collection of lush, dreamy love songs that speak from the heart. Our hearts.

From that fuzzy third grade crush (“Field Trip Buddy”) to the headiness of new romance (“Slow Club”), love unraveling (“End of the World”), personal awakening (“Monarch”) to our grand Greek history in the legend of the Sacred Band of Thebes (“Beotia”)–which was performed live for the very first time at the opening ceremonies of Gay Games VII (2006)–Alber's “Hide Nothing” is more a collection of secrets told with piano, harp, strings, bassoon, (and Matt's old house keys) than a pop album.

“Hide Nothing” is reminiscent of singers like Ben Folds, Iron&Wine and Imogen Heap (the album includes a moving cover of her “Hide And Seek”), all of whom Alber counts as influences. It is an emotional tapestry of beautifully crafted songs that glisten, glow, and gently–and sometimes grandly–unfold; vocals lingering and lyrics resonating long after the songs (and goose bumps) have faded.

A classically trained singer, Matt releases “Hide Nothing” on the heels of a five year world tour as a member of America's premier classical a capella ensemble, Chanticleer, with whom he recorded two Grammy® Award-winning albums.

“Hide Nothing” was recorded at his home on Macintosh computers with co-writer/producer Jeff Crerie of Utmosis.

The video for “Monarch” is currently on Logo (MTV) and YouTube. Matt just completed shooting the gorgeously romantic video for "End Of The World." Look for its Logo debut in October.

Matt Alber's debut is an especially dear project to Silver Label, whose co-founder (and VP, Tommy Boy Entertainment) Rosie Lopez says:

"Matt's music creates a calming and stillness that moved me from the first moment I heard his demos. I think “Hide Nothing” is a great album, and since we've all danced that first dance, or kissed that last kiss in a world that demands we adapt the hetero experience via love songs written by hetero writers (or made famous by hetero artists) to our own, our hope is that the songs on this album will, in turn, penetrate the mainstream, as the deepest feelings expressed in Matt's lyrics are universal."

“Hide Nothing” will be released on November 4, 2008 on Silver Label, American's premiere LGBT music label (also home to The Cliks). A gifted singer, charming man and frankly, a total babe, Matt Alber–and his album–are, if we may, boyfriend material.

Matt Alber lives in Los Angeles and can be seen and heard at venues across California performing live with his band as “Matt Alber & His Gentlemen Callers.” •
